Player Stats

Tracking individual player stats is one of Rosterlytic's most powerful features. Whether you're entering numbers after a game or reviewing a player's season performance, here's how it all works.

Entering Stats After a Game

Once a game is completed (both scores entered), captains can enter individual player stats:

  1. Open the game from the Games screen
  2. Go to the Stats tab
  3. Tap Enter Stats

You'll see a spreadsheet-style view with every player on your season roster listed as a row. The columns depend on your sport:

Hockey

Goals, Assists, +/-, PIM (Penalty Minutes), Shots, Saves, Goals Against

Basketball

FG (Field Goals), 3P (Three-Pointers), FT (Free Throws), Rebounds, Assists, Steals, Blocks, Turnovers, Fouls

Soccer

Goals, Assists, Shots, Shots on Target, Saves, Goals Against, Yellow Cards, Red Cards

Softball

Runs, Hits, RBIs, Home Runs, Doubles, Triples, Walks, Strikeouts, Stolen Bases, Errors

Kickball

Runs, RBIs, Home Runs, Walks, Strikeouts, Stolen Bases, Catches, Errors

Enter the numbers for each player and tap Save. Points are auto-calculated where applicable (for example, hockey points = goals + assists, basketball points = 2×FG + 3×3P + 1×FT).

Commissioner Stats Entry

If your league has commissioner-only stats mode enabled, team captains won't be able to enter stats. Instead, the commissioner enters stats for all teams. This ensures consistency across the league. The commissioner can access stats entry for any game from the league schedule.

Reading Player Profiles

Tap on any player to view their full profile. The profile has multiple tabs:

Stats Tab

The stats tab shows:

  • Season Summary Card — At-a-glance totals and per-game averages for every tracked stat across the season
  • Game-by-Game Breakdown — Individual stat cards for each game, showing the date, opponent, and every stat recorded

Use the season selector at the top to switch between seasons and compare performance over time.

Attendance Tab

This tab tracks how reliable a player is:

  • Attendance Percentage — What percentage of games they've attended
  • Reliability Badge:
    • Ironman — Rarely misses a game
    • Reliable — Consistently shows up
    • Unpredictable — Hit or miss
    • Wildcard — Frequently absent
  • Last 5 Games — Quick trend view of recent attendance
  • Full History — Every game with their RSVP status

Positions Tab

For sports with position tracking, this tab shows:

  • Performance by position — How the player performs at each position they've played
  • Efficiency tiers — Based on benchmarks for each stat at each position
  • Games played per position — So you know where they have the most experience

This helps you figure out where a player is most effective. Maybe your center is actually better at wing, and the numbers prove it.

Chemistry Tab (Hockey Only)

This tab is available for hockey teams and shows:

  • Top linemates — Which players this person performs best with
  • Star ratings — 1–5 stars for each line combination
  • Confidence indicator — How many games the data is based on
  • Formula breakdown — The exact weighting (goal differential, +/-, points, win rate) behind each score

Understanding Efficiency Tiers

When viewing position stats, you'll see players categorized into efficiency tiers. These are calculated using benchmarks defined for each sport and stat:

  • Stats are compared against per-game benchmarks
  • Players are ranked relative to those benchmarks
  • Tiers help you quickly see who's performing above, at, or below expectations for their position

For example, a hockey center averaging 1.5 goals per game might be in a higher tier than one averaging 0.5, based on the benchmark for that position.

Stat Tracking Configuration

Not every team wants to track every stat. Captains can customize which stats are tracked:

  1. Go to Team Settings
  2. Find Stat Tracking Configuration
  3. Toggle individual stat categories on or off

Stats you disable won't appear in the entry screen or player profiles. This keeps things clean if your team only cares about certain numbers.

Each sport has core stats (always tracked) and optional stats (can be toggled). For example, in hockey, goals and assists are core, while penalty minutes and shots are optional.

Player Streaks

Rosterlytic automatically detects active player streaks, like:

  • Goal streak — Consecutive games with at least one goal
  • Point streak — Consecutive games recording a point
  • Scoring streak — Consecutive games with a run or hit

Streaks appear on the player's profile when active, giving you a fun way to track hot players.

Tips

  • Enter stats right after the game — The sooner you log them, the less likely you'll forget the details
  • Use the season selector — Compare a player's performance across seasons to see growth (or decline)
  • Check position stats before setting lineups — The data might show you something you didn't notice on the field
  • Let the auto-calculations work for you — Don't manually calculate hockey points or basketball scores, just enter the components and Rosterlytic handles the math
  • Customize your stat tracking — Turn off stats you don't care about so your entry screen stays simple and fast
