Games & Scheduling
Games are the backbone of Rosterlytic. Whether you're tracking a casual rec league or a competitive season, here's everything you need to know about managing your game schedule.
Adding a Game
Captains can add games to the schedule at any time:
- Go to the Games screen
- Tap the + button
- Fill in the details:
- Opponent — Start typing and Rosterlytic will autocomplete from your past opponents
- Date — Use the date picker to select the game day
- Time — Set the start time using the hour, minute, and AM/PM selectors
- Location (optional) — Where the game is being played
- Season — Assign the game to a season for stat tracking
- Tap Save
Your team will automatically receive a notification that a new game has been added.
You can also enter scores right away if the game has already been played, or leave them blank and fill them in later.
The Games Screen
Your games screen is organized to give you quick access to what matters:
Upcoming Games
Games that haven't been played yet, sorted by date. Each card shows:
- Opponent name
- Date and time
- Location
- Attendance count (how many players have RSVP'd yes)
Past Games
Completed games with results. Each card shows:
- Opponent name
- Final score
- Result indicator (W, L, or T)
- Date played
Next Game Hero Card
Your next upcoming game gets a prominent card at the top of the screen with all the key details and a countdown feel. It also shows the last time you played this opponent and the result, if applicable.
Editing a Game
Need to change the time, update the location, or fix a score?
- Tap on the game to open Game Details
- Tap the Edit button
- Update whatever you need — opponent, date, time, location, scores, or season assignment
- Tap Save
Your team will be notified of the changes.
Entering Scores
Scores can be entered when creating a game or edited after the fact:
- Open the game and tap Edit
- Enter your team's score and the opponent's score
- Save
Once both scores are present, the game automatically marks itself as completed. This is important because completed games are what drive your standings and stats. If a game is missing a score, it won't count toward records.
Assigning Games to Seasons
Every game should belong to a season so your stats and standings are tracked correctly. If you have unassigned games, you'll see a banner on your dashboard prompting you to assign them.
To assign a game to a season:
- Open the game
- Tap Edit
- Select the season from the dropdown
- Save
You can also assign games to seasons in bulk from the games screen using the overflow menu.
Deleting a Game
Captains can delete games that were created by mistake:
- Open the game
- Tap the Delete option from the overflow menu
- Confirm the deletion
Deleting a game removes it from the schedule and recalculates any affected standings. Your team will be notified of the deletion.
Calendar Integration
Want your games on your phone's calendar? On any game card, tap the calendar icon to export it directly to your iOS or Android calendar. The event will include the opponent, time, and location.
League Games vs. Team Games
There are two types of games in Rosterlytic:
Team Games
- Created by captains for their own team
- Track your team's schedule independently
- Great for pickup games, tournaments, or leagues not managed in Rosterlytic
League Games
- Created by the league commissioner
- Appear on both teams' schedules automatically
- Drive league standings and playoff seedings
- Can be generated automatically via round-robin scheduling
If you're part of a league in Rosterlytic, your league games will show up alongside your team games. You don't need to create them separately — the commissioner handles that.
Tips
- Use opponent autocomplete — It keeps your opponent names consistent, which makes historical matchup data more useful
- Enter scores promptly — Standings and stats only update from completed games
- Assign every game to a season — Unassigned games don't contribute to season stats or records
- Check the "last meeting" card — Before a game, see your recent history against that opponent right from the games screen
